The Bowburn scheme will deliver a new 73 bed sustainable care home utilising air source heat pumps.

The site lies on the outskirts of Bowburn, a village in County Durham, England. Bowburn is situated about 3 miles to the south-east of Durham. The site is part of the wider Integra 61 mixed use masterplan.

The proposed building is organised around an ‘L’ shaped plan of two bedroom wings. Primary leisure orientated communal spaces are located at the ‘elbow’ of the ‘L’, central to the plan for ease of access / reduced travel distances internally. The main entrance and main route into the landscaped gardens are also located on the ‘elbow’ for similar reasons and for high visibility to aid wayfinding.

The proposed primary facade materials include red multi brickwork, dark grey multi brickwork, articial stone cills, artificial stone copings, uPVC windows, uPVC rainwater products and doors and grey interlocking concrete roof slates. All of these materials match or mimic materials found in the Bowburn Conservation Area.
